Activate Licenses on Windows

    Introduction

Activation of a license means associating a license with a given PC. Activation is the prerequisite step to using paid versions of Composer and Player and requires a live Internet connection. Once licensed, Composer and Player no longer require Internet connectivity.

    • Activating Player for Kiosks on Chrome? See this article.
    • Activating Player for Kiosks on Samsung SSP? See this article.
    • Activating Player for Kiosks on LG webOS Signage? See this article.

    NOTE

    • Once a subscription license is retrieved, it is locked to that PC, requiring a formal release before it can be "transferred" to a new PC. That release and transfer process is detailed here.
    • The clock for subscription licenses - the time during which you have entitled use of Composer and Player - begins at the moment of purchase. There is no time constraint on when license activation must occur but because the entitlement clock starts at purchase, you are encouraged to activate your license as soon as you are able.
    • Each subscription and subscription renewal – once payment has been collected - requires Internet-mediated activation (phone activation is not available) no more than five days after the beginning of a new period. After that five day grace period, in the absence of Internet-mediated activation, Composer and Player will cease to work. To activate these licenses, you must establish an Internet connection on each hosting PC. If you plan to use subscription-based licenses in an environment without Internet access, make sure those licenses will not expire while offline. Alternatively, consider the use of perpetual licenses as they never expire.

Activating Composer Licenses - Option One - Automatic License Retrieval

By logging into Composer, you are telling Composer to automatically select and download a license. The login process is detailed here.

Note that if you're already logged into Composer, you need to log out and then back in again for license retrieval to occur.

    NOTE

    • Perpetual Composer licenses can be released from one PC and transferred to a new one. This device-to-device license transfer process depends upon whether you are current with your Maintenance, Support and Update (MSU) entitlement.
      • Perpetual Composer licenses with active MSU entitlement: These licenses can float and thus Composer can "self-activate". See this article for information about how to work with floating Composer licenses.
      • Perpetual Composer licenses with inactive MSU entitlement: These licenses cannot float. Unlimited transfers are still possible but license release and reactivation must be performed manually. To transfer these Composer licenses, follow the steps outlined here.

Activating Composer Licenses - Option Two - Manual License Key Entry

Step One: Obtain your license key

    1. Go to http://myintuiface.intuilab.com/login.aspx and log in using your login credentials.
    2. Go to My License Dashboard to see a list of all of your licenses.
    3. In the License key column, click on the key you wish to activate. By left-clicking it you will be able to copy it into your clipboard.

Step Two: Enter your license key into Composer

You must have an active Internet connection to activate your license.
IntuiFace must be allowed to use ports 80 and 443 if your PC protected behind a firewall.

    1. Run Composer - if not already running - using its desktop shortcut or the Windows Start menu.
    2. If already logged into your IntuiFace account, select the menu option Help -> Logout then confirm your desire to logout by clicking the OK button in the pop-up window that appears.
    3. In the bottom of the login window, click the Enter the license key link.

    4. Paste the license key from Step One above into the awaiting text field and click the OK button.

The above steps will initiate a (virtually instantaneous) license validation process over the Internet. Once validated, the license will be activated on your PC.

Activating Player for Windows Licenses - Manual License Key Entry

Step One: Obtain your license keys

Step Two: Enter your license key into Player

You must have an active Internet connection to activate your license.
IntuiFace must be allowed to use ports 80 and 443 if your PC protected behind a firewall.

If Player is not currently licensed:

    1. Run Player using its desktop shortcut or the Windows Start menu.
    2. Paste the license key from Step One above into the awaiting text field and click the OK button.

If Player is currently associated with a different license or with another IntuiFace account:

    1. Run Player using its desktop shortcut or the Windows Start menu.
    2. Click the "Enter a license key" option at the bottom of the Experiences panel.

    3. Paste the license key from Step One above into the awaiting text field and click the OK button. The Player will now use that license and log in the IntuiFace account that owns that license.

    4. Follow the license release process for the original license key, making it available for use on other devices.

The above steps will initiate a (virtually instantaneous) license validation process over the Internet. Once validated, the license will be activated on your Windows device.
